Outsourcing sector: Exports of miscellaneous business services

The Export of Miscellaneous Business Services is a standard government reporting statistic and is an approximate proxy for the offshore business process outsourcing (BPO) sector.  Data the latest available from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and is for the calendar year 2008.

The Export of Miscellaneous Business Services is a good, but not perfect proxy for offshore BPO. It includes most sectors generally recognized as offshore BPO including legal services, accounting, management consulting, research and development and other business services. However, call center services are included in the primary sector (e.g. call center services for IT is included with exported IT services).
