Accenture intends to augment operations in Cebu

Leading global management consulting, outsourcing and technology services firm Accenture is reported to be interested in increase its operations in Cebu – a major outsourcing destination in the Philippines. A news website quotes Accenture Delivery Centers country managing director in the Philippines, Lito Tayag as saying in an interview that his company is planning to spread out its operations in the country and is now engaged in assessing alternative vis-à-vis the location for its expansion project.

Expressing his faith on the talent available in Cebu, Tayag elucidated that his company was interested in augmenting it information technology and business process outsourcing businesses in the region. Describing Cebu as a lucrative investment location, the country managing director of Accenture in the Philippines said that the place offers immense opportunities for development. According to Tayag, the company has collaborated with a French NGO in Cebu with a view to offer excellent and highly expert professionals in the region by providing scholarships.

Nevertheless, Tayag denied revealing the approximate of personnel Accenture intends to recruit for its expansion project in Cebu during the subsequent few years. According to him, what is, however, certain is that the expansion project at Cebu is a strategic plan for the company’s growth.

It may be mentioned here that Accenture, which employs over 190,000,00 people with clients in as many as 120 nations, in launched its ‘Global Delivery Center Network for Technology’ in Cebu way back in 2007 and launched its BPO wing in the region around two years back. Moreover, the Accenture Foundations awarded the Passerelles Numeriques or PN worth $1.26 million for the training program set up by the latter in Cebu –Cebu System and Network Administration, recently. The scholarship will be provided for four year with a view to aid underprivileged youth from across the Visyas to be proficient in information technology skills.

After India, the Philippines happen to be Accenture’s second most important centre for international operations. The multinational has more than 14,000 professionals on its rolls at its centre located in Metro Manila. While Accenture is offering data and voice services, such as the call center, the firm’s primary business is to provide an assortment of tech applications – almost the entire outsourcing products to its customers.
