Accenture wins major BPO deal from Statoil
World’s second largest technology advisory firm Accenture Plc. has announced that it has won a five-year BPO deal from the Norwegian energy firm Statoil ASA to manage its Accounts Payable processes. According to the terms of the contract, Accenture will reengineer the Accounts Payable processes of Statoil, which has operations in 40 countries worldwide, by means of its Global Delivery Network. While neither party revealed the economic details regarding the deal, Accenture is likely to start delivering the outsourcing services to the energy conglomerate from sometime in September 2010.
A news website quotes executive director of Accenture’s Nordic Energy Industry Group, Kristian Kvam as saying that the contract intends to enhance the competence and efficacy of Statoil’s financial management by means of restructuring and augmenting computerization backed by the tech firm’s Global Delivery Network. Describing the deal as a brilliant occasion for Statoil to leverage the tech firm’s sophisticated business process outsourcing know-how; Kvam said the BPO firm will utilize the services of its operation centers located in Norway, India and the Czech Republic to accomplish this target. Kvam informed that Accenture Global Delivery Network utilizes universal procedures, designs and metrics to metamorphose over 50 international services manned by more than 80,000 professionals into a gigantic engine for advanced performance.
It may be mentioned here that Accenture has been providing services to Statoil since the latter half of the 1970’s, assisting the energy conglomerate in different domains, including management consulting as well as technology services. Accenture claims that its expertise coupled with international capabilities makes it possible for the company to tender enhanced application outsourcing, business process outsourcing, infrastructure outsourcing and bundled outsourcing to its diverse clientele globally.
Another website reports that the tech firm has had a fair amount of success in diverse industrial sectors. For instance, the company won a seven-year application outsourcing contract with Asprea, the property claims repair service department of Aviva, in June 2010. According to the terms of this contract, Accenture will make available infrastructure and application outsourcing services for the buildings claims division of Aviva in the UK. In addition, in 2009, Accenture had entered into a seven-year outsourcing deal with the Scandinavian Airlines to provide financial management services. According to Kvam, the successful achievement of the new project will enable Accenture to win further contracts from the energy sector – a comparatively new market for the tech firm.
