Aegis acquires Sallie Mae's customer service hub in US
Leading Indian business process outsource services vendor and the IT wing of Essar Group, Aegis Ltd. has entered into a deal with Sallie Mae, an education finance facilities provider in the United States to purchase the firm’s customer service center located in Killeen, Texas.
Quoting Aegis Ltd. managing director and global CEO Aparup Sengupta, a business news website reports that as many as 350 personnel of Sallie Mae would be relocated to the global delivery platform of Ageis following the contract between the two firms that will be effective from July 4, 2010. Aegis Ltd. already has approximately 40,000 professionals on its rolls located at the company 43 centers globally. Presently, Aegis has delivery centers in different locations in India, the United States, the Philippines, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand and Costa Rica.
Elaborating on the agreement, Sengupta further said that the contract will facilitate Aegis to increase its service portfolio owing to the inclusion of extremely skilled customer service experts to the firm’s team from Sallie Mae. He said that his firm would utilize the proficiency of Sallie Mae in augmenting the quality and execution of its service offerings by incorporating the Killeen center into the global delivery platform of Aegis.
