Quoting Eveready Philippines managing director Esteban Vorbeck, a website says the proposed business process outsourcing center would take care of several aspects of the company’s business, including finance, logistics and marketing and, at the same time, would support Eveready’s business in the Philippines by undertaking back office support services. Vorbeck was talking to newspersons at the introduction of the company’s latest ‘Isang Laging Handang Pilipinas’ promotion to commemorate Eveready’s 110th anniversary in the Philippines.
Expressing hope that the company’s plan to set up the global BPO center in Manila to would be a reality soon, Vorbeck said that Eveready already has a manufacturing unit in the country’s Cebu province and local headquarters at Metro Manila. He further stated that the BPO center would be set up by Eveready’s unit in the Philippines – Energizer Philippines Inc, which was presently serving its customers in the United States through third party vendors. According to him, it was worthwhile to establish the company’s first BPO center in the Philippines since an increasing number of local talents were executing regional responsibilities for the company.
Citing the strong business process outsourcing industry in the Philippines, Vorbeck said that Eveready too was keen to take advantage of this flourishing industry in the country. Another website quotes Eveready Philippines managing director saying that the company was considering the tremendous growth of Philippine BPO sector to establish its captive BPO center in the country. He said that Eveready presently has several functions in the Philippines that are being executed precisely for the region. Hence, the company was also considering setting up its back office support service center in the Philippines with the hope of supporting the growth of the organization’s business with what has been proven by now.
In addition to setting up a BPO center in the Philippines, Vorbeck said that his company was also in the course of undertaking research and development regarding new gadgets that are powered by battery, which could be launched in the market to enhance the consumption of battery in the country. According the Eveready Philippines managing director the battery industry has been witnessing a decline in sales during the last few years basically owing to improved battery performance, extensive electrification as well as the competition from multi-function gadgets and energy-efficient devices. At the same time, he said that now the company was anticipating a double digit growth during 2010 primarily owing to escalation in consumer confidence.
