Capgemini acquires Sonda Procwork’ BPO facility in Brazil
Globally leading IT services and business consultancy firm Capgemini has announced that the multinational’s Brazilian arm has completed the acquisition of the BPO facility of Sonda Procwork in Gaspar (Santa Catarina), Brazil. Following the acquisition, Capgemini Brazil would provide BPO services to all international clients earlier serviced by Sonda Procwork in the Latin American region.
It may be noted that Sonda Procwork is the Brazilian arm of the Chilean information technology group Sonda. However, neither party provided any financial details regarding the deal.
According to an online news report, the acquisition of Sonda Procwork by Capgemini is in order with the firm’s expansion strategy in Latin America. In addition, the move also endorses the client requirement for worldwide financial operations by means of offering a complete range of financial and accounting (F&A) facilities from delivery centers located across the globe. As per the terms of the agreement, over 200 employees of Sonda Procwork will be transferred to Capgemini, which already employs more than 95,000 personnel worldwide, and will work to fulfill the multinational’s clients F&A and HRO requirements in the Latin American region as well as other parts of the world.
Capgemini vice-president and head of business process outsourcing in the Americas, David Poole said that his firm is in the process of expanding its global delivery competence with the latest acquisition of the Brazilian facility as well as the existing centers in Latin America, which has the potential for over 2,000 seats. According to Poole, the distinctive approach of Capgemini that makes use of business insight procedures and solutions together with their profound understanding of the F&A market enables the company to provide sophisticated services to their clients, which comprises numerous multinationals. He added that their unique approach helps them to offer effectiveness as well as considerable cost savings to their clients.
It may be noted that Sonda Procwork had established its facility at Gaspar in Brazil in 2008 with a view to offer technology solutions to the clients of the company in the region. This facility commenced its operations with the exploitation of information technology outsourcing (ITO), SAP ERP and BPO services to a major business organization in the region.
Meanwhile, Sonda Procwork president Carlos Henrique Testolini said that the deal is likely to have the least impact on their clients as they have strategically decided to transfer the facility’s business process operations to Capgemini with effect from January 2010 initially making use of an unchanged structure, similar team as well as the prevailing operational procedures. He further said that the current ITO and SAP operations of the Gaspar center would be shifted to other centers of Sona Procwork located in Sao Paulo, Campinas and Alphaville. This will ensure the stability as well as the excellence of the services offered to their clients, Testolini concluded.
