CDC Global Services, subsidiary of CDC Corporation, revealed that it has inked an agreement with Tata Communications to utilize its hosted solutions in India. The contract with Tata is also a factor in the company’s expansion in BPO. CDC Global Services will make use of Instacc, developed by Tata to develop the firm’s contact center business, said Shrikant Parab, MD of Global Services India.
Moreover, CDC Global Services is seeking to grow in India. The company is a provider of IT-enabled services and plans to expand under the BPO umbrella, according to a report by Business Standard.com.
Rajan Vaz, Managing Director of CDC Global Services, said in a statement that the IT firm is seeking out acquisitions in the BPO sector in India. He added that CDC is in discussion with several firms about a takeover involving $15-20 million.
In addition to that, CDC is also considering expansion of its own operations in the country.
Vaz explained that in the third quarter, the company will expand its BPO operations by opening two more offices in Pune and Mumbai along with an increase in headcount by 450. He also said, there a bunch of solid viable projects in the pipeline.
CDC Global initially began its BPO work in Q1 2009 with 50 employees located in Pune and Mumbai. With this initial launch, CDC was already involved in IT outsourcing. Following this latest expansion plan, a total of 500 employees will staff the two offices in Pune and Mumbai. The company has acquired 10 new BPO contracts in Q3 2009 and has a strong sales pipeline in the offing. Now, the IT firm expects to have at least 2,000 staffers employed in its India BOP segment toward the end of 2009.
Future launches are also scheduled for Vietnam, China, Sri Lanka, and Africa. Among the services offered at the India and China offshore IT outsourcing sites include IT infrastructure planning, managing networks, application development in offshore, remote and onsite IT support desk, and application support and maintenance.
