Cisco Systems to recruit 3,000 for Bangalore campus
Global networking major Cisco Systems intends to recruit around 3,000 personnel during the next two years in order to augment the firm’s information communication technology (ICT) services in India.
A website report quotes Wim Elfrink, Executive Vice-President and Chief Globalization Officer, as saying that they are pleased with their operations in India. After California, Bangalore in India is the second headquarters of Cisco System and, hence, the $40-billion company was keen to augment its workforce at this center. He categorically stated that his firm would be hiring 3,000 new employees over the next two years.
Presently, Cisco has approximately 7,000 professionals on its rolls in India and it is now developing approximately 1 million sq feet in Bangalore to serve as its second headquarters worldwide. While the new hub at Bangalore is expected to accommodate between eight to ten new firms, Cisco has also collaborated with the Indian real estate major Lavasa Corporation, a wing of Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) and India’s third largest IT firm Wipro to establish India’s first complete e-city as well as to offer e-governance and solutions for city management in Lavasa.
Talking about the Lavasa venture spread 20,000 acres amidst the Sahyadri hills near Pune, Elfrink said that urbanization not only permits wonderful business prospects, but also offers an advanced life for the people. Lavasa will be India’s first hill city and will be utilizing technologies based on smart broadband for fuel and water management. All three partners of this project would be investing a whopping INR 450 crore in Lavasa over the next decade.
According to the Cisco executive, over the next four decades, as much as 70 per cent of the world’s total population would settle in urban areas. Elfrink was of the view that developing smart cities that would be utilizing robust technologies based on broadband network will eventually lead to massive savings, a more environment-friendly earth as well as an enhanced life for the people.
