Convergys continues its expansion in the Philippines as part of its efforts to respond to clients’ demands of having their accounts handled in the country.
According to a report by Business World, Convergys had plans of employing 6,000 more people to add to their total head count of about 20,000 contact center employees in the Philippines.
Its Vice Pres. and Country Manager Marife Zamora said that they are looking at hiring more workers in order to respond to the increasing “relationship management” needs from clients.
She added that they particularly asked Convergys to have their accounts administered in Philippines, which is the “most sought after” location of their clients.
The company’s Vice Pres. for operations Stephen Daoust also mentioned that their sites in the southern region of Cebu have attracted more clients after some major cities in Metro Manila experienced some natural disasters, which affected their operations in the business capital last year.
He added that some clients consider Cebu because of its location that is beyond the typhoon belt.
The American services provider is expanding its Cebu operations this year. Daoust said that they would occupy more spaces at their third facility, the i3 building, in an IT hub in the region.
Convergys now runs 12 sites in the country, including the i3 facility and others in major cities across the Philippines.
In its efforts to attract younger employees, the firm also partnered with a local fashion line and organized fashion shows and concerts as part of its recruitment campaign. This approach was also carried out in order to outstrip rivals in the market.
