Convergys opens biggest site in Philippines
Convergys plans to increase its 17,500 workforce in the Philippines as it officially launched its biggest contact center site in the country.
In a report published by philstar.com, the global business process outsourcing giant has continued its expansion since it started its Philippine operations in 2003. It now has offices in three other major cities in the country apart from its facilities in Metro Manila.
Convergys has over 70,000 employees in its 82 facilities worldwide, including the US, where its headquarters are based, and in Canada, the Middle East and Asia, Latin America.
The BPO firm seeks to acquire top new hires for all of its different centers. Marife Zamora, its Vice Pres. and Country Manager in the Philippines, said that the basis of Convergys for selecting sites is their clients' as well their own needs and to be flexible. She added that key factors to consider include sourcing recruits, client requirements, operating costs, infrastructure, availability of skilled labor and support from the government. Zamora also mentioned that their employees' safety are given importance so they also consider the proximity of the site to the place where the employees live.
Also, the company's Senior Vice Pres. for Human Resource Clark Handy said that they believe that their competitive advantage is relevant to the career and growth opportunity provided to their employees. Handy said that Convergys is fully dedicated to drawing in the best and the brightest of their employees and giving attention to their personal growth and development in their company.
