Indian outsourcing firms gear up for recovery

Along with the potential recovery of the Indian outsourcing sector, business process outsourcing firms are starting to strengthen their businesses in the country.

According to pcworld.com, Accenture announced on Monday its plans for increasing its Indian workforce with 8,000 more staff, adding to its current head count of 42,000. Accenture plans to complete the additions by the end of 2010, said a company's spokesman.

Global outsourcing is likely to get better soon which will be an good for India, said Siddharth Pai of Technology Partners International. He added that there are indications that customers interested in outsourcing will enter negotiations soon, releasing significant pent-up demand.

Pai also mentioned that services firms are preparing for future deals and are increasing recruiting.

India's top outsourcer Tata Consultancy Services also revealed in October its plans of increasing its staff by 8,000 during this quarter. TCS said it would hire more as a preparation for a foreseen outsourcing pickup. During the last quarter, it already added 320 staff members. Last week, TCS also announced reinforcement plans in the US.

Alongside the anticipated recovery of the industry in the country, Indian outsourcing firms are also under expansion efforts in the overseas market.

Infosys Technologies, India's second-largest software services provider, said in a statement on Monday that it would establish its second IT services center in Mexico. The company added that it would cater to clients mainly in North and Latin America and Europe.
