Infosys names new execs for BPO, KPO units
Indian IT services firm Infosys Technologies named the newest heads of its business process outsourcing unit, Infosys BPO, and its knowledge process outsourcing subsidiary.
The company is set to formally announce these changes after releasing their financial results scheduled on January 12.
According to reports by Business Standard, Infosys promoted Swaminathan D to be the Infosys BPO's chief executive officer and managing director, from his position as the chief operating officer and senior vice president.
Its KPO practice will be headed by former AVP of Infosys' Consumer Packaged Solutions, Kishor Gummaraju.
Swaminathan will be replacing Amitabh Chaudhry, who left his position in November for a job at HDFC Life, while Gummaraju will be occupying the vacant post from Joydeep Mukherjee.
Infosys' Senior VP and HR head Nandita Gurjar was quoted by Business Standard as saying that all the shortlisted candidates for the highly coveted CEO post of Infosys BPO were from the company. As she earlier announced, the selection would be finalized on January 1.
The candidates for the CEO position included Worldwide Sales and Marketing head Ritesh Idnani. However, the company was believed to have adhered to its practice of elevating the COOs to the position of CEO and MD, which was also the same practice applied to Chaudhry's promotion after Akshaya Bhargav left the post in 2006.
According to Business Standard, it was learnt that Gummaraju appointment as the head of KPO was decided upon his consulting background. He earned a Bachelor's degree in telecommunications and electronics engineering and also an MBA. He also has over 17 years of professional experience in CPG and retail industry, particularly his previous post as the commercial manager for Unilever.
