Infosys to recruit 30,000 foreign professionals this year
India’s second largest IT services vendor in terms of software export revenue Infosys has announced on Tuesday that it plans to recruit around 30,000 professionals, mostly foreigners, as well as establish new development centers in emerging market, such as Mexico and China and Mexico during the current year. A news website quotes S. Gopalakrishnan, Infosys chairman and CEO, saying that the firm has already launched a subsidiary in Dallas in the United States and would now concentrate on expanding presence in emerging markets, such as Mexico and China.
According to the Gopalakrishnan, since they are establishing new development hubs in China and Mexico, their requirement for manpower would increase considerably and, hence, there will be more recruitment this year. The chairman and CEO of the IT major headquartered in Bangalore in India further stated that the firm intends to hire local professionals for most of its operations located abroad. In all, the company plants to hire 30,000 new professionals this year and most of them would comprise foreigners, Gopalakrishnan added.
Infosys chairman and CEO said that presently foreign professionals constituted a mere five per cent of its total workforce, but with the proposed recruitments their position will go up to around 15 per cent in the ensuing months. He said that Infosys intends to hire around 1,000 local professionals in the United States during the subsequent for quarters.
According to Gopalakrishnan, they saw noteworthy prospects in the United States since the federal government is spending hugely for the latest state-of-the-art technologies. Substantiating his view, Infosys chief said that the US government was considering ways to leverage modern technologies, such as the social media and mobile technology and this would prompt the federal government to remain a major client for cutting-edge technology. He asserted that his company was keen to take advantage of this opportunity in the United States as well as increase its business in developing markets.
