Intelenet to recruit 7,000 workforces, plans to expand footprint overseas
Top Indian business process outsourcing service vendor Intelenet Global Services is planning to take on an additional 7,000 workforce during the 2010 fiscal keeping in view the projected 15 per cent to 20 per cent growth of the IT and ITes sector in the wake of the recovery of the global economy after the recent recession.
According to Intelenet Global Services CEO Susir Kumar, the IT industry is projected to grow at a rate of 15% to 20% and so will the BPO sector. He said that with signs of recovery of the economy of the United States, Intelenet also anticipated a double-digit growth compared to a mere four to seven per cent growth achieved by the firm in the previous fiscal year. As a result, the company planned to expand its operations and recruit 7,000 people from across India during the current fiscal, he added.
Presently, the company has more than 32,000 personnel on its rolls based at 35 delivery hubs worldwide. Of these, as many as 18,000 people are based in India, where the company’s BPO arm Sparsh is located in Mumbai. According to the Intelenet CEO, the company now intends to expand its operations overseas, especially in the emerging markets like the Middle-East, China and Latin America.
Quoting Kumar, a business website reports that the emerging markets in China, Latin America and the Middle-East have remarkable growth prospects for Intelenet and, hence, the company plans to set up a number of offices in these locations. In addition, Intelenet is considering expansion of its operations in the Indian market by setting up new centers in Tier II and Tier III cities and towns. Nevertheless, Kumar refused to divulge any detail regarding the number of centers the company is indenting to set up or the extent of investment to be made by the firm during the current fiscal.
During the last fiscal, Intelenet, which already has offices in the United States, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, Poland, Australia and Mauritius, achieved a turnover of $350 million worldwide. Intelenet has more than 90 clients, several of them among the Fortune 500 companies, and offers business process outsourcing services in the telecom, banking and financial services as well as hospitality and travel sectors to them.
