Global software giant Microsoft Corporation has supposedly axed several hundred jobs at its different offices located across the globe, but the tech major is maintaining a mysterious silence on this issue. A report published by TechFlash says that actually Microsoft had earlier decided to retrench a small number of its 88,596 employees globally. However, officially, the company has neither confirmed nor denied reports regarding the employee retrenchment.

The report says that since the company initiated the recent retrenchment process, a number of supposed Microsoft employees at the Redmond area in Washington have been posting unidentified remarks on the Mini-Microsoft blog. Many of these so-called employees have been expressing their deep anguish and anger against Microsoft management in their posts for losing their jobs.

One such anonymous employee is learnt to have tearfully written a post saying that he/ she loved Microsoft deeply as the company has straightforwardly or obliquely helped to feed and clothes his/ her family for about 20 years. Stating that he/ she owed too much to the software giant, he/ she writes that though they come to work, give more than 100 per cent, they don’t see any recognition, direction, future and leadership in the company.

The anonymous blogger further wrote that the company has turned out to be its nastiest adversary and the management team has proved to be unsuccessful making it necessary to clean the house, especially those in the age group of 64 to 68 years. Describing the layoffs as ‘mercy killings’, the blogger also wished that co-founder Bill Gates would again return at the helm of affairs and also that many unwanted decisions taken in the past should not have been made. The nameless writer further states that there is no means to alter the negative path they were on now and soon Microsoft will turn into a shell of the great conglomerate it once was.

One more unidentified writer, who claimed to be an erstwhile Microsoft employee now working for Google, said though he did not perform badly at Microsoft in any manner as when he quit the company he was 5 levels above from where he had joined and continued to have some esteem for some things at the software and solutions providing multinational. However, when he joined Google, he realized how wretched his life was at Microsoft. Although he said that Google is not the ideal place for him to work, but he could at least breathe easily at his new place of work.

It may be recalled that over 5,000 employees lost their jobs at Microsoft when the company undertook several rounds of lay-offs in 2009. Many feel that this time the number of employees losing their jobs may be much smaller and this is perhaps the reason why the company has not made any announcement on the retrenchments. In fact, the lay-offs are said to be still on and this has been of little help to pacify or motivate the company’s employees, especially those at Redmond ranch.
