MphasiS to begin new recruitments from May 2010

Taking a cue from the other leading Indian BPO and IT service providers as well as seeing the increasing demand for outsourcing services, MphasiS, prominent IT solutions and services and BPO vendor, has also announced its plans to recruit new talents. According to the MphasiS CEO Ganesh Ayyar, the company will hire around 2,800 new personnel from May this year. Earlier, the BPO firm had recruited around 1,500 people during the first quarter beginning from November 2009.

In addition to these direct recruitments, MphasiS had increased its workforce by means of a number of recent acquisitions. While the recent acquisition of the global Remote IT Operations and Management (ROM) service provider Fortify Infrastructure Services enhanced MphasiS workforce by 300, the firm added another 800 people to its personnel when it took over an exclusive unit of the insurance major AIG in 2009. These acquisitions not only increased the workforce of the BPO firm, but also enhanced its business and client profile. Presently, Mphasis employs around 35,000 personnel who are based at the different centers of the BPO firm in India as well as abroad.

Quoting MphasiS CEO Ganesh Ayyar, a website reports that the firm was plagued by rising attrition rates some time back, but presently the attrition rates of the company are equivalent to the industry standards. Ayyar said that he expected attrition to continue as a major issue since the outsourcing market was livening up gradually after the global recession. At the same time, the MphasiS CEO pointed out that they were mulling over returning to the conventional salary hike pattern during mid-2010. Ayyar asserted that while the pay hike would be in accordance with the industry standards, the company does not have plans for hefty salary raises with a view to keep hold of its employees.
