Philippine BPOs eye $11-billion earnings
As it marks its decade-long existence in the Philippine market, the business process outsourcing sector is eyeing $11-billion earnings and generate more than one million jobs in the industry this 2010.
Industry experts said that this year would be a very significant year for the BPO sector as they mark the 10th year anniversary of contact centers in the Philippines. Along with the multi-billion dollar revenues and employment targets, the industry is also urged to prepare for the new challenges in this beginning of a new decade.
Jon Kaplan, president of TeleDevelopment Services, was quoted by the Manila Bulletin as saying that they find a need for a careful evaluation of their plans for their constant development. He added that it is also necessary to resolve training challenges to enable a better workforce in response to the growing demands for value-added and high-value services.
The industry is also seen to be further strengthened by knowledge process outsourcing or KPO firms and other such complex services, Kaplan said. KPO firms are believed to be the next top revenue earners in the sector. All allied BPO sectors should, therefore, prepare and advance talent, infrastructure and technology to meet future needs.
TDS will also be among the organizers of the upcoming Fourth Annual Call Center and BPO Training Convention in Manila. This event will feature speakers from the leaders in the industry to share their expertise and views on the new challenges that are ahead for the BPOs. They are also expected to discuss the emerging trends and opportunities in the industry.
