Rolls-Royce awards design, engineering contract to TCS

India’s largest IT and BPO service provider in terms of revenue, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and the British engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce have entered into a worldwide engineering joint venture. Quoting TCS, a financial website reported that as per the agreement, they will be providing Rolls-Royce with comprehensive design and engineering services within its complete product development.

While none of the parties have revealed the particulars regarding the contract, it is believed that as per the agreement, a statement issued by the leading Indian tech firm said that TCS will establish a technology hub in Bangalore in India with a view to offer design and engineering expertise to Rolls-Royce. The new contract will enable TCS to augment the firm’s engineering services imprint in India.

Quoting the Rolls-Royce India president Anil Shrikhande, another news website says that Rolls-Royce considers India to be a tactically important market and also a progressively more imperative service site for technology. He expressed hope that his company’s partnership with TCS will provide them with the advantages of superior quality and cycle-time. On the other hand, the Tata Consultancy Services vice-president and global head (engineering and industrial services), Regu Ayyaswamy considered that the collaboration between Rolls-Royce and TCS is important for the Indian tech major. He said that the new partnership will enable TCS to provide superior quality engineering solutions and services for multifaceted aero engines in conforming to the high standards of Rolls-Royce.

It may be mentioned here that TCS has always focused on aerospace and defense zones. Earlier, the Indian tech major had partnered with General Electric Co. for airplane engineering expertise. In addition, it had also collaborated with the European aircraft manufacturer Airbus for the firm’s Airbus 380 aircraft.
