StarTek expands BPO operations in Philippines
US-based outsourcing firm StarTek Inc. recently expanded its operations in the Philippines with its new facility in a business center in Metro Manila.
This is the second site of StarTek in the country and can occupy 2,100 seats, adding to the 1,100 it already has in its first facility in Makati City, which was opened in September 2008. It is also scheduled to be filled in by June of this year.
The company will hire employees for this new facility in the following months, besides its ongoing recruitment at its original site in the country.
StarTek's Pres. and CEO Larry Jones was quoted by the Manila Bulletin as saying that this follows the success of their first facility in the Philippines which they launched more than a year ago.
The Denver-based firm has been in operations since the last 23 years. Its services include sales support, customer care, accounts receivable and complex ordering processing, among others. They service to clients from the company's 20 delivery centers. Other facilities of StarTek are located in Costa Rica and Canada.
The BPO firm continues to strengthen is revenues from its operations in the Philippines. Its earnings from its first facility here surged to $3.2 million in the third period of 2009 from $100,000 from the same period of the previous year. Its total revenues went up by 5.1 percent or $3.5 million, earning $72.5 million in the third period of 2009, from a year-on-year revenue of $68.9 million. The earnings were also strengthened by a revenue increase of $3.2 million of its business in the US.
