Wipro Opens Offices in U.K., Escalating Commitment in Europe

According to recent media reports, Wipro Technologies is expanding its footprint in the U.K. with a new facility in Reading and a brand new office in London.

The Reading facility was bought by Wipro and is expected to be used as a center for excellence, training staff, delivery of customer projects, according to Laxman Badiga, CIO of Wipro, reports Business Standard. Badiga, who has been with the IT giant for 26 years, is responsible for transforming processes and systems at Wipro in order to obtain flexibility and scalability.

With an ongoing expansion in U.K., Wipro has launched a new London office as well. The office will function as the headquarters for the IT giant's operations in the U.K - the office has been designated as a sales facility.

Head of Europe Operations for Wipro Technologies, Ayan Mukerji, revealed that both the sites will function as key recruitment centers as well. It will also serve as a training venue for local staff and provide opportunities for onsite development in order to incorporate more clients. Mukerji added that with the new offices will assist Wipro with its strategy for growth in the U.K. and with growth in the entire European region.

Badiga continued to say that the purchase of the Reading facility is a precedent for Wipro with respect to overseas policy. He added that the opening of the two new offices will increase the company's commitment in Europe and the U.K. The Reading venue began with a single floor a had a bit more than 30 staff initially.

Wipro's operations in Europe account for roughly 26% of the outsourcing firms's total revenue from IT services.
